And NOW... the WINNER!!!

I cut this image into a leaf while Lillie ate her lunch yesterday and was wondering if anybody has ever done any leaf cutting and had success with it.  I'll explain what I did and maybe you can help,
but first...

(Elegance in Blue)

I have the results...
(Colors of Fun)

to the jewelry...
(Simply Purple)

give-away!

There were 15 that entered, so I put those numbers into a book and...

had my assistant draw a number.

12!

I gave each person a number based on the order in which they left a comment,

so KATE is the winner!

Congratulations, Kate!
(since I know you through facebook, if you could please inbox me with your address and jewelry choice).
I will send the jewelry to you
IMMEDIATELY.
The pony express is sitting outside.

Well, Jake, being our fill-in pony is discouraging, so I will get it to you via post office.

Thank you to everyone who entered!  I hope you all are enjoying all the wonderful things about fall,
and I'm planning another give-away in a month or so, so come on back!

Meanwhile, I found this perfect leaf outside and saw on another blog how they cut letters into the leaf...

and as I love doing silhouettes, decided I'd get my exacto knife and see what I could do.
I stole borrowed my daughters black marker b/c it's washable and drew the stick figure I wanted in the middle.  Yes, stick figure b/c they tend to put on weight quickly.

I was a stick figure once...

I think when I was a toddler.

I began cutting  her out at her head and then body, and then added the limbs, making them shorter and adding as I thought they needed to make the proportions look right.

I then decided to ad a dog...
and used the marker to sketch one in.

but changed my mind as I didn't like it's proportions and how high it was sitting on the leaf.

So I gave the girl a brother instead.
Again, a simple stick figure.

And cut his head and body out first...

started on an arm...

and got the form the way I wanted before I fed him using photosynthesis and fixed his weight.

Then I determined that a dog must be following these kite-fliers and sketched and cut him out.

adding some grass...

And then some ground.
I tore a little of the dog's leg off, unfortunately, but this is an experiment,
so we'll see how he does.

I read on a blog to dry leaves between books for 2 weeks and then they can be modge-podged and last indefinitely, so I'm going to try that and then hope to put it in a frame.

I'll let you know how it goes.

I picked up way to many pretty leaves today

just in case.

Do you think I should try cutting them after they've dried and been modge-podged?

Or maybe I should just stick to paper...

Or maybe I should just let lunch be lunch.
