Problems that Bump into my Weekend

"Be still, and know that I am God:.." Psalm 46:10 a

The first snow fell for us on Friday...

I hope for their sakes that we'll get some more.
Violet wanted help making a snowman,
but snow is needed for that.

She said instead that she was making a snow bug.

I've had several of my own problems this weekend.
It has to do with a few things:

Number One:

No, I'm not talking about the Pillow Pet.
That was Levi's birthday present that he picked out.  Yes, it's a ladybug.  My boy likes bugs.

Violet got the dog Pillow Pet that she picked out.
It was her birthday present from Grandma.

Don't try to swap them out.  They both know exactly what they want.

The problem is also not the tractor calendar.
That's there because I share this room with a farmer
and he has to have something of his in here.

Nope, it's the two live pillow pets.

 These two:
Starsky and Hutch.

Fred and Wilma.

Oh, alright:
Tiger and Moon.

They tempt me all day long to join them in their lazy naps.
Those eyes make me sleepy just looking at them.

 Problem #2

Hats.

My children wear hats in the winter.
They have their favorites.

But the problem is this:

Something about this face sticking out of that hat makes me unable to resist kissing that cheek.

Kiss.

Kiss.

"Mom, stop kissing me."

 Oh, look.  Another one.

Kiss.

Kiss.

She's a little more accepting because she can't talk yet.

Her hands shoot out after a while though.
It's rather unfortunate that she has learned to push away.

Poor creatures in their hats get overcome by Mom's face in theirs.
I spend way too much time and energy kissing these hat-covered faces.

Problem #3
I have these projects lying about.

My Farmer hates "lying-about-projects."

I guess I can't blame him.
He hates any uncompleted project
or completed project
that he trips over when carrying a handful of wood in for the stove.

I need to finish them
NOW.

Projects waiting to be exhibited on my new Etsy store
that has nothing for sale yet
and may not be ready til next Christmas if I don't get to them
before my Farmer trips on them one more time and they become fuel for the woodstove.

 And finally Problem #4

Christmas is fast approaching,
as is announced to me with glee every morning when Violet puts the advent ornament on her tree.

There are mountains of presents in the laundry room waiting to be shrouded in temporary paper garments.

My children have been spending too much time in the laundry room.

Levi knows his walking dragon is in there somewhere:
"Mom, where's my dragon you got for Christmas?"
I think he thinks if he asks me 5,555 times
I will tire of it and give in.

He may be right.
He only has about 15 more times before he has reached that number,
and I may just cave.

And there are Christmas presents yet to be finished like this one:
Can you see what's missing here, from these wind-up carolers?

Yes, the little lad went and lost his head.
Poor chap.

But I got them really cheap because of it.

(Hey, now, don't laugh that I actually paid something for them.)

Why do I do these things to myself?

Let's hope the new clay one I put on
and the new Baby Lillie I added will stay put.

I'm hoping it all blends better when it's all painted.
Violet so loves musical things and I know she'll adore it...

if I can finish it.

Yep, these soft, sleepy creatures are trouble.
They make me sit down and pet them when there are so many other priorities;...

but they do make me sit and relax for a minute and think about the real meaning of Christmas.

When I stop and think and pray,
that makes the day and all of it's "stuff"
much more enjoyable;

And in a moment of time,
in the stillness,
I see that my day has been filled with good gifts.

  5. Yes, Tammy, I'll snatch some kisses for you! :) I do need to start wrapping SOON!!
Thank you, Sue! Happy that you enjoy visiting me here! :)
Had fun at the cantata with you last night, Mom. You really need to get control of your big kid; don't think that will happen though. Dad will always be a big kid, but that's one of the things that makes him so fun! :)
