Decorating Challenge

 Over at Miss Mustard Seed's
there's a "CopyMe Challenge" going on.

So I took this picture frame that my Mom no longer wanted...

dug up a piece of old music...

painted the frame white...

rubbed it off a bit while it was still wet...

traced the old mat onto the back of the old music
and then cut it out...

stuck some two-sided photo stickers in the corners of the old mat
by which to adhere my new picture...

placed some photo stickers to use to hold the music border onto the old mat...

and put it all back together using a favorite picture of my daughter
who is always singing and loves music.

Notice the layers of paint that come through after a rough sanding job
and then a slight glaze.
Lots of layers coming through,
Miss Mustard Seed style.

I set it beside an old white platter that was my great-grandmother's.
An old coffee mill and some greenery lend to the look.

A marriage of old with new...on a budget.

  1. Beautiful! I need to go through the box of old music I brought home from my Mom's estate. It's prob a foot taller or better filled with old sheet music. I love your daughter's photo in the middle. Very nice. :)

  4. Thank you! I've never used music to decorate before, and I liked the way this looked. She just started taking piano lessons...from me. Let's hope I can deal with it: I may have to hire this job out. :)
