The Distance Between Sisters.

I am joining Gypsy Mama for

Her prompt is:  On Distance

Distance:

It is a space in time.
It is many footprints to cover the miles between.

But what is distance between sisters that grew up under the same roof,
laughed at the same jokes,
sang the same songs,
watched the same cartoons and then classic black and white movies together?

It is the stuff that made us bond:
watching our parents through good times and hard times, prayers for strength;
parents who gave us the gift of loyalty,
love,
and our faith in God and His son.

The distance of miles separate us now;
but there is no distance in our hearts.

When the months are passed and we are together again,
it is as if yesterday we were children again:

Children who do not understand distance;
Children who only understand laughter
and the memory of the water fight from yesterday,
the shared fat-free yogurt icecream,
the winner of the badmitton game,
the champion ping-pong player,
the person whose turn it was to do the dishes.

The distance of a room away.

The distance between sisters who are friends
and have grown up
is miles...
and yet...
 nothing at all.

  4. How fun! I always wanted sisters, but didn't have any. Now I have a wonderful sister-in-law and three daughters—I'm excited to see how their relationship will grow over the years.

  8. Great pictures! I wish that my sister and I were as close as you 3, but some heartaches are almost impossible to heal. I miss her and am glad when I see other families who are able to stay close.
