Easy Christmas Craft

Have you ever noticed that your taste in Christmas decorations change every year?

I never seem to decorate the same.

I decided I didn't like the little grapevine wreath on this wall.
See it there, on the left.

 I picked up these older Christmas dolls for a great price;
I got the tree at a yard sale last year and liked the way they looked all together,
so I wanted to ad something that would fit their style
more than the rustic country look.

So I found a small wooden frame.  I keep spare frames in a box with my craft stuff.
I painted it gray...

and after it was dry, I found my Modge Podge and painted the whole front and sides of the frame.

I then poured white glitter all over the wet Modge Podge,
being careful to do so over a scrap piece of paper.

I do make a mess.

But that's what the scrap paper is for
(well, for the majority of the mess anyhow.  Somehow, I still seem to get glitter everywhere.)

I carefully lift the scrap paper and pour the glitter back into it's container.

I picked out an image from The Graphics Fairy who has old prints to use for free.
I found these three Christmas Victorian children that resembled my bunch,
so I printed it out in the size I wanted for the frame.

(Yes, the image is also on my scrap piece of paper: it took me a couple tries to get the image to the size I wanted.  Math and estimation are not my friend).

I decided to ad some glitter to the picture as well.

I did the same thing: sprinkled the glitter on,
making sure I had scrap paper underneath,
and then poured the excess back when I was done.

Hmm, I don't see any scrap paper under the image.

Maybe that's why I make such a mess.

I like it better than the wreath.

Do you?
