I am loving summer for all the time to work on projects that have been waiting to be completed!
My husband's boss sent me a lamp she no longer wanted.
(Thankyou, Tammi!)
I thought I'd try out the stucco/stencil on it that I'd done on my cupboard
using the Deco Art Texture Stucco.

I thought I'd try out the stucco/stencil on it that I'd done on my cupboard
using the Deco Art Texture Stucco.
Taping a stencil to a surface that wasn't flat
took a bit of tape,
but once the stucco was smeared on,
and the stencil pulled off,
the little smears or imperfections weren't worrisome.
After the stucco had dried for a day or so,
I mixed some Plaster of Paris into some white paint,
til I got the consistency I wanted,
and painted the lamp.
I was happy to find some vintage material at the Good Will store
and glue-gunned it to the lampshade.
The new colors in my bedroom are coming together.
I decided to paint the design on the lamp.
It is nice when a bright idea actually turns out the way I hoped.
:)

You are such a talent. I am so glad you were able to repurpose the lamp. You see, it belonged to my husband's mother (Baba). She passed 4yrs ago at the age of 90. She was an absolute angel and would have been so pleased to see it put to good use. She came to the U.S. in 1949 after escaping the revolution in the Ukraine, with her husband and two babies in tow. The lamp spent several years in my son and daughter-in-law's home, given to them when they started out in their first home. To know that it has such a good home is a blessing. Thank you.
