How Far Does a Quart of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Go?

So, how far does a quart of Annie Sloane's Chalk Paint really go?

I used a can of Old White to paint my top kitchen cupboards:
fronts twice,
inside doors once (they were already white).
I did put a very light grey wash on them
and then waxed them with light and dark wax.

The outside doors were this light brown color.

(Pardon the pink child in the way).

Amy from Maison Decor did all over her kitchen cupboards with one can
and left hers the color from the can.
Her kitchen is AMAZING and she has done all sorts of
money-saving tips to make it one of my favorite kitchens.
Her cabinets were wood to start,
so if you want to see how well they cover,
head over to her blog >HERE<

(On a side note, her laundry room is my dream laundry room!
See it >HERE<.
I'd LOVE to do my ceiling in my living room like she did in her laundry room.)

Okay,
back to chalk paint.

With the same can of Old White,
I did a wash on the following:

this frame for a print in my kitchen,

and plastic hallway mirror.

I base-coated a basket for my kitchen,

painted the top of my daughter's school desk,

painted the top sections of this small hutch.

added some touches to my porch chair,

and, yes,
even painted a pretty lazy susan for my fish bowl,
to make seeing the fish by little onlookers
less likely to be a tragedy of fish on the floor.

(Did you know that when you spin a fish bowl,
the fish stay in place.

Yes, but at least the kids think it's doing something,
so let's not tell them.)

Honestly,
I wasn't sure how I was going to use this lazy susan,
and it was one of my first transfers from The Graphics Fairy;
but at least the fish get a pretty,
smiling child looking in from the bottom,
so maybe the ones looking in from the side won't scare them as much.

Chalk paint spreads far.
Well worth the money to me,
for those
easy projects that would otherwise require sanding and priming.

So there you are:
a can of Annie Sloane's Old White Chalk Paint.

  2. Wow, that is a lot of painting with just one can! :-)

Your friend's ceiling in her laundry room is stunning. I can see why you would want yours just like it.

    You are just so creative.

    Have a blessed weekend,
    Lisa

  3. That means, therefore, one can of Annie Sloane's paint will last me a lifetime! Whew!! You did some pretty amazing projects along the way....but I like the pink child the best! ;o) I'm still trying to get over the no sanding and priming part....my head just doesn't wanna wrap around that concept! Have a great weekend! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  5. Your projects turned out great! Love your K. cabinets, am thinking about doing the same thing but a little leery of attempting such a huge project! I'm really liking the no priming or sanding aspect of the ASCP. Am looking forward to trying it!

  6. I am looking forward to trying it, no sanding and good coverage, my kind of paint! Knowing that it goes far is even better! Your projects turned out great. Am thinking about doing my kitchen cabinets but a little leery about attempting such a large project!

  7. Oh I just love your kitchen pics! Mine is in need of a redo as well. Our cupboards were old plywood from the 60's. We painted them white. It sure helped to brighten the kitchen. But having white on the bottoms did not work well with lots of young kids!
So I painted them slate blue to match the lower half of the sitting room. I love the color, but it's dark...
I wonder if a white wash over top would brighten it up.
Now you have me thinking. LOL!
